The Why — our first short film made with code and AI Watch now

fframes – video vibe coding framework that is actually fast

Stop wasting hours waiting for video to be built from the web page in a browser. Vibe code your video on GPU using Rust & SVG framework.

Built by Codex with fframes: 36 minutes to build, 24 seconds to render

fframes Studio · desktop app

Select it. Prompt it. It’s just Rust.

A desktop editor for fframes videos. Click an element on the canvas, say what should change, and an AI agent finds the exact Rust source behind it and edits it. Every edit is a normal source diff you can review, undo and keep in Git.

  1. Select

Click any element on the canvas, or draw a rectangle for a scene or range.

  2. Ground

Studio resolves the selection to its source anchor, so the agent reads the right code.

  3. Edit

Your agent (Codex or Claude Code over ACP) proposes a change to the Rust source.

  4. Build

The candidate is compiled against your pinned SDK and checked before it is applied.

  5. Preview

The new revision plays with audio. Undo restores the previous one.

Easy to install

Download the app, connect an agent, and let Studio fetch the SDK. No terminal and no setup scripts for the default workflow. Installers target macOS (Apple Silicon), Windows x64 and Linux x64.

A better SDK, built from source

Studio builds your project against an SDK pinned to the fframes source, with a compatibility check between app and SDK. Opening a project never silently installs or upgrades it, and builds are cached per revision.

$ cargo run -p fframes-studio

Your code stays the authority

Projects are ordinary Rust crates. Studio adds one studio.json and never hides the source. Agent edits go through a validated, recoverable apply with undo.

Why it is so fast

~10×faster than the CPU backend at 1080p with the Skia GPU backend

fframes renders SVG trees directly instead of driving a browser. In the repo’s 100,000-text-node benchmark (300 frames at 4K, Apple M-series) fframes on Skia/Metal took 4.07 s against 121.13 s for Remotion, 29.7× faster.

  • Skia draws on the GPU.
  • Static markup is hashed at compile time and cached across frames.
  • Every CPU core renders frames in parallel.
  • Frames reach the encoder without a readback where the hardware allows it.

Studio is under active development. Provider sign-in, Windows and macOS interaction, and physical audio and display qualification are still being completed.
